Public Services

In the early days of township government, townships of the second class had a primary function to take care of the roadways within the borders of the township for safe travel. In fact, in early days supervisors were traditionally referred to as "Road Supervisors". As time has passed the role of township government has changed dramatically, expanding the services we provide in a never ending barrage of legislation and un-funded mandates handed down by the State Legislature. The township is required by law to deal with land use planning issues, environmental issues, transportation issues and public safety issues to name a few.

Today, Penn Township is a full service community, providing township residents with a wide variety of public services. This section of the website will enable you to research different departments of the township and the essential public services they provide. If you have a question about the services provided please contact the municipal building or e-mail Supervisors@penntownship.org .
